Baseball, You Are Killing Me

Why do I watch baseball? Why do I love it so? Why do I let the St. Louis Cardinals break my heart, specifically, why must Jason Isrighausen suck out loud? You see, my ability to get work done during September-October is severely hampered by playoff baseball and the penant chase irregardless of whose playing...but when its the Birds on the Bat...forget it. Might as well not even bother, and now I'm becoming a Twins fan (slowly, 1987 just won't go away) and they too are in a dogfight for the playoffs. This is not shaping up to be a productive Fall. I love you baseball....I hate you baseball........

Also, I lost a book. What hell am I doing losing a book? Strange thing is, I don't lend out books. I just flat out lost one, probably in a parking lot somewhere. Suppose that was bound to happen now that I'm in grad school and grad school rots your brain. But I lost a Barry Hannah book, which sucks for me. I was planning of squeezing that book (Airships) into this last week before classes kick in, but I fucking lost it. So, looks like I'm gonna read Flannery O'Connor's The Violent Bear It Away, if I can speed through it. It was either that or another Cormac McCarthy novel called Blood Meridian (supposed to be the most violent book in American literature).

Progress on the novel....next question....

Here's the photo I've tried to post three goddamn times now (thanks Blogger). It's of the Sears Tower from right at its base. Emily took it. In fact, she took several good photos while we were in Chicago. Damn that was a nice weekend and I do want to go back....

VIVA SWEET HOME CHICAGO!! (though I viva'd 500 miles away for 25 years)

I say sign the 13-year-old pitcher from Lemont, IL who struck out 13 Georgian (state of Georgia, not the reign of King George) batters on 8/22. Go Lemont, IL!
