Friends,
I'm looking for a j-o-b. Guh. I found a listing that I think looks very interesting, and because of that, I'm not providing a link, but if you find it, I'm calling dibs, so let's all pretend that I put a quarter on the pinball machine of this thing, and it would be bad taste if you better prepared, better CV'ed friends snatch this job away from me.
It seems that an aquarium on the east coast needs someone to edit communications and marketing they put out. The posting asks for three writing samples. Now, I'm curious...what kind of writing samples do you send an aquarium if you're trying to convince them that you're good for their copyediting job? Any ideas?
I don't have any sea stories...though I do have a student in my workshop who turned in a story about a jellyfish detective, so maybe I can edit that work into something special and use that. I don't have any academic papers concerning the sea. I've never written a sea shanty or anything involving a leviathan. I do like sea creatures, like, you know, fish. And I've always been interested in aquariums, even though I've never gone to one. What do you think?

If it's like a PR/Marketing kind of job, they don't want essays or short stories. They'll want to see press releases and articles most likely. Got any of those?
I checked the aquarium's website and the job listing there didn't mention a writing sample for the editor's gig I was interested in.
They do have a writer job available too, and I think you're right about the press releases or articles. Both of which, I have never produced, but I'm sure I could.
