Movie News

Two bits of film news that I found over at Ain't It Cool News that I figured some of you (Seth? Ande? Anonymous Assyrian Information Giver?) would find interesting. One bad, one good.

The Bad:
Fox is suing Warner Brothers over the rights to make Watchmen. Lawsuit could mess up production of film. I actually don't care about who sues who in this situation...I just want them to make a damn fine movie out of this. It's fantastic source material, so if the movie gets botched or bogged down because of this lawsuit, I'll be right pissed off.

The Good:
The Coen Brothers will be adapting Michael Chabon's Yiddish Policemen Union for the big screen. I like the Coen's, and what I've read of Chabon's I've enjoyed. So, this sounds good enough to me. Not quite enough to quell the bad taste from the Watchmen lawsuit, but at least it's good news.

Any hitches in the Watchmen giddy-up is potentially aweful. I'm with you, I don't give a shit who makes the movie as long as they do it right and we don't end up with another Breakfast of Champions starring Bruce Willis straight to video piece of horseshit.

I think the Yiddish Policemen's Union will make a damn fine movie. And the Coens will do a damn fine job with it. I'm excited.

Now I'm just waiting for the Kavalier & Clay movie to get started, and all will be well.
