What Does Boston Stand For?

Friends,

This isn't anything to do with the city (or as I like to call it Bronson's Bootycall Playland). No, this is far more awesome. Like the awesomeness of the band Boston. Oh, don't pretend like you haven't rocked out to Boston at least once in your life. I know you have. You've all had that passing moment where, just for a clear, spring day, you wanted a fire-engine red, 1987 Camaro Z-28 with the T-tops off and just blasting Boston's self-titled record as you drive somewhere, anywhere, powered by the might of Boston.

If you haven't, then too bad because presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee has. And he's been using the song "More Than a Feeling" in campaign stops. And, that's not good, according to Tom Scholz, the chief songwriter of Boston.

The most important quote from the article is this:

[Scholz writes:] "Boston has never endorsed a political candidate, and with all due respect, would not start by endorsing a candidate who is the polar opposite of most everything Boston stands for..."

So the question does need to be asked...what does Boston stand for? Obviously rocking out with one's cock out is hugely important to Boston, and I can understand why they wouldn't want a social conservative using their songs because Huckabee is probably anti cock-out rocking. But other than that...what do you think Boston stands for?

Here's a video of Boston performing More Than a Feeling with their original lineup. Enjoy the bootleg (and excuse the annoying damn text right in the middle of the screen):

Boston, I believe, stands for shitty music and after concert golden showers. Which is strange because those are two of Mike Huckabee's major planks--with the exception that he stands for after rally golden showers (that means he likes to get peed on).

Also, I for one have never rocked out to Boston. As you must know, I have a long standing hatred of all bands named after cities, states or continents with two exceptions: 1) Bluesmen who use a state as part of their stage name ie Mississippi John Hurt or 2) "The Final Countdown"

Boston was never a good band I have made it a rule to avoid bands that are named after geographic locales e.g. Kansas, Chicago, Asia, Europe, Japan(although they had a couple of cool songs). If you recall the last lead singer they had died from gassing himself in his bathroom with...charcoal burners. Death by bricketts was too good for that lame crooner.
