Anyway, you can vote for the top ten finalists. It is my uninformed and snap judgement that the finalist Fresh Kills will not win. At least I hope it doesn't. Nothing against the author, but his excerpt has a line in it that just stinks of stupid-violent-undergrad-workshop pieces that should not be encouraged. Maybe he has more going on for it than just that, and my snap judgement is ill-advised, but you know, something about the line "I don't often answer the door with a gun in my hand" makes my stomach seize and my eyes start to roll.
