Friends,
Here's another Bad Music Sunday, coming right atcha....
Forest for the Trees - Dream
V.A.S.T - Touched
Stabbing Westward - What Do I Have To Do? (live version, music video version cannot be embedded)
This song reminds me of some precious high school moments. I had this friend named Tom who was desperately in love with this girl named Casey. It was embarassing, and Tom didn't care. He would talk about her, fawn over her, just about everything a boy could do. Oh, he asked her out too, and she said no, but he was not deterred. I remember the semester I had lunch with Tom, which happened to be the same lunch period as Casey. Each time she walked past our table, we would hold up pieces of paper, like billboards, trying to convince her to go out with Tom. And it's not like my friend was a trogolodyte. He was smart, funny, clear-skinned, but girls thought he was "weird" in high school, and not "weird" because he was gothy or nerdy, just wickedly clever, boisterous and had a unique sense of humor. He liked strange music for high schoolers in the class of `97, like Sebadoh and early G. Love & Special Sauce. Was completely fearless when it came to damn near everything, like climbing metal rafters in our gym some 50 feet in the air or driving his Ford LTD 100mph while high. The kind of kid that would clean up with the ladies in an art program in college. I remember each time we heard this song, Casey would come into the conversation somehow. It was never sad or anything, just "C'mon Casey, come love your Tom." But Casey and Tom never got to together. What happened to them? Tom became a huge pothead, but still wicked smart. I think he's an electrician or something like that now, living in the hosue he grew up in (his parents moved out). Casey? I really don't know what happened to her. Probably popped out a baby or two.
Cameo - Word Up
Check out LaVar Burton at the beginning of this video.
Wicked Wisdom - Bleed All Over Me
This is the Jada Pinkett Smith metal band. It's a competent enough metal song I suppose. Clearly they are taking some cues from Evanesence, and JPS has some pipes on her. But, when it comes down to it, it's still a Jada Pinkett Smith heavy metal band.
Haddaway - What is Love?
Eiffel 65 - Blue

My god, Bryan. You've done it. I agree with your selection this week. And the JPS metal song--at 21 seconds into the song, her eyes scare the hell out of me.
Yes!
Did you notice that Haddaway has made even more money off of his one hit wonder? The Diet Pepsi Max people are using it. I am also disappointed that you'd single out V.A.S.T. they(he) isn't a bad songwriter/singer he had the idea before H.I.M. ever came along. I also agree with Stabbing Westward I never understood the attraction to them.
