The Fastest Mile

Friends,

For the first time since high school, I ran one mile. Straight. Only this time, I did not stop to catch my breath. I did not walk any of it. I ran and ran and ran on that stupid ass treadmill while watching Sportscenter. And at 29, I clocked my personal best one mile. About 12 or 13 minutes. Not bad for my first time doing it. Well, maybe it is, I don't know. I've never been able to do this. Ever. Not in high school, not in undergrad, not even for that stretch where I tried to run a little at SIUE or SIUC. Even in grade school and middle school I couldn't do this, hell, couldn't run from home to second without getting overly winded. But today, I did. And today, I'm Prefontaine, baby.

Tomorrow, I'll do it again, shit maybe I'll go for more.

Nothing but jealous on that one. My last running experiment ended in hip surgery. And it will be my LAST running experiment.
