Friends,
I'm a little rundown tired after a damn fine AWP. Well, let's not get carried away, the conference part of AWP was okay, and I didn't attend nearly enough sessions because I got a little disenchanted after a while with the self-serving nature of the panels. The social aspect of AWP, and, quite possibly one of the best days of my life, the exploration of Milledgeville, however, made up for everything the panels lacked. I will say that I gained a writing assignment that I will address on this blog in the near future, probably on March 9th, my dad's birthday. He'll be 55. That's all I want to say now...just to tease you a bit is all.
But, now, here I am, Mankato-bound, with plenty of work to do. I'm just about to plan out my week of 101, but first I stopped by one of my favorite sources of news, CNN. Again, they found something that makes me love life, every last drop:
"Moose brings down low-flying Helicopter"
I have a special affinity for moose. My mom has a ceramic moose thing, maybe it's supposed to be for cream, but I don't know, she never used it for anything besides decoration. When my mom first got it from her Avon dealer, I remember she said, "It's a beautiful moose." However, over time, that phrase just morphed into, a loud and pronounced, "BYOOOOUUUUTIFUL MOOOOOSE!" Why it got to that, I don't know. I believe it was because of what poet-types might call internal assonance between the two words. Naturally, my mom would never know the terminology, hell, I'm not even sure I'm using the right words, but I still like it. And everytime I see a moose, I think about how byoutiful it is. And now charged and took down a helicopter. I sure like moose.VIVA EL MUSTACHE

When in Rome, do as you done in Milledgeville.
