According to an AP thing, Illinois, my homestate, is the most American of the United States.
I'm curious exactly how Americanism can be quantified statistically, but whatever, I like this desigination because since I'm from Illinois, that means I'm more American than other Americans...which is awesome. However, that does pose some problems for me if I travel abroad since I am amongst the Americanest Americans I would be doubly hated. And you know, maybe this explains why I like baseball, apple pie, and fireworks so much.

Perhaps those three things were among the quantifiable criteria for being an American--percentage of people in the state like baseball, apple pie, and fireworks.
I'm sure among the other quantifiable criteria were number of pickup trucks (American, not foreign), number of yellow ribbon magnets on said pickup trucks, and preference of domestic to imported beers.
Oh yeah, and moustaches. Lots of moustaches.
