Hot Bavarian Date Idea

Also during Clint's time here in Mankato, we made a run to New Ulm to the Schell Brewery. For those of you in the area, and you haven't been yet...it's worth making an afternoon out of it, if for anything else, to inject some local history and flavor into you. Hitting up Schell's and then eating at Der Kaiserhoff (which I affectionately call Der Shittenhaus) would make for a fine Bavarian date. Schell's makes a fine beer (evidence by photo), especially Firebrick. And if you can find it on tap, drink deep my friend....drink deep. Shit, while on your hot Bavarian date you could even go down to that kitschy New Ulm story and buy yourself a fancy German hat...though some people may not care for it:

And, while we were at Schell's they were celebrating an open house of their gift shop (Germans will throw a party for anything), so we got this nice little key chain and were able to indulge ourselves in one dollar beer and hot dogs while listening to some sweet oompah polka music:
There were also some mean-ass peacocks roaming around, including an albino female peacock (I suppose that would be a peahen...whatever), but somebody (Clint) didn't e-mail me photos of a thumb-judgement on the peacocks. But, I'm sure you can imagine the brutal thumbs down those feathery birds got. Look, I like peacocks, wonderful birds if for anything else their Flannery O'Connor connection, but pissy, loud, honking peacocks are not my friends...therefore thumbs down. I do remember one time at the St. Louis Zoo where I saw a peacock chase a little boy for pestering it....now I did like that because that little boy deserved it, and I find troublesome little ones far more disruptive to a man's good time than petulant peacocks....because, at the end of the day, you can eat the peacock to show it who's boss.

But overall, it was time well spent. So cheers to all that, and the memories made and drank away.

VIVA EL MUSTACHE!
