Robert Goulet Is Dead

Friends,

One of our own, one of the proud mustaches of our times, has passed today. Robert Goulet has died. Robert Goulet, the Velvet Mustache, one of truly great ironic stars. In fact, I believe he was one of the first to appreciate and understand how goofy he was, and didn't care. Yes, I think he was appreciated even before Will Ferrell started doing his schtick.

It was always a treat when he appeared in movies, and usually completely out of nowhere. Remember his turn in Beetlejuice? Sure you do. What about his guest spot on the Simpson's when he's swinging a microphone and nails Milhouse in the face with it. Or, most recently, that great Emerald Nuts commerical about how those nuts will keep Robert Goulet away. And, the man could sing, no denying that. Hell, he was a Broadway star (though unmustachioed I believe). See, if only Gay Talese had written a piece of literary journalism about him, then maybe we'd be lamenting this loss more.

Nothing embodied that lounge singer smarm more than Goulet, but he made it cool. Yeah, he really did. So, shed a tear, say a prayer for his immortal soul, and let's watch some videos of Robert Goulet in his memory. God rest, sir. Your mustache was a fine, fine thing.

Bless you, Robert. Thanks for the mustache memories.

Here's hoping his epitaph reads, "I've choked bigger men than you!"

Godspeed Robert Goulet, as a flock of angels sing thee an American standard to thy final resting place.

Friends and neighbors, Nostradamustache has a heavy heart and if the Beta Male were alive today, he'd say the same.
