Beantown Throwdown

Friends,

Another collegiate update and it's a big one.

Simmons College said YES!

That's Emily's number one school because they offer internships for the United Nations and the Library of Congress. It's one of the few schools on the east coast with library science AND an emphasis in archives work.

No mention of funding yet, but this is great damn news. Could I be headed to Boston? I don't know. But I know one thing, if I go out there, I might have to take in one of those fabled Hometown Throwdowns that the Mighty Mighty Bosstones performs there. Or maybe, go to a Harvard Bar and just listen to how many Good Will Hunting references get made in either delicious irony or pathetic sincerity.

Another collegia recap:

The Yes:
Simmons College (no funding mentioned)
Denver University (strange funding mentioned)
University of Southern Mississippi (no funding)

The Silent:
University of Wisconsin
University of North Carolina
University of South Carolina
Louisana State University

The No:
Michigan Assholeverines

viva el mustache!

Go to Boston! That won't be too far from me. What would be in the middle to meet at?

I don't know if you knew, Bryan, but my mom is an Archivist in Illinois. State Archives, to be exact. Don't know what Emily is going after, exactly, but she'd be willing to offer any advice, I'm sure.

As far as the hometown throw down, the Bosstones broke up. They have reunions randomly, but the throw down is hit or miss anymore. I tried to make it to the last one, because it was the last one, but couldn't afford it.
