Charlton Heston Passes Away

Friends,

I learned tonight that John Carter (or as you know him Charlton Heston) has passed away at the age of 84. Say what you will about his political views, but the man was a screen icon.

My own story about Mr. Heston is that my Dad unashamedly loves the Planet of the Apes, and some of the sequels. I remember watching those movies with my Dad, and he being excited when it was on television. What's amazing is that my Dad is also a Randolph Scott fanatic (who he refers to as the queer cowboy) and consumes cowboy movies like other people bite their nails. So the fact that he loves this strange B-movie, sci-fi thing is fabulous to me, and I know the reason why I like Planet of the Apes is because my Dad likes Planet of the Apes. It's that easy.
