Magnolia State Bound?

Another Emily college update...

The University of Southern Mississippi said yes. Also, she got the official letter from Denver University today as well. The bonus thing is Denver has offered her a $4,500 dollar award-type thing for a year.

Now, the trouble is that Denver's tuition is roughly $33,500 a year and the wording of the letter is a little vague because it seemed to say the 4,500 is dependent upon filling out a FAFSA. So what exactly is this 4,500 if she needs to get approved for financial aide first? Some kind of bonus money on top of the loans she would clearly need? Or it is a stipend for an assistantship, which the letter also seems to suggest. It's a weird thing that she's going to look into.

Anyway, USM wasn't on the top of the list, and they didn't even talk about money in their letter, so they are under Denver right now. And Denver wants $300 to hold her spot for Fall 08 (which begins September 8)...and they want that money by April 21. This sucks because there are so many schools yet to be spoken for.

University of Wisconsin (which is its own ball of drama because of some recommendation letter that hasn't found its way there yet, somehow...it's mindblowing really)

Now, personally, I'd like to move to Mississippi because it seems to be the birthplace of music like this:

But then again, when I think of the Magnolia State, I can only think of this moment from the movie Magnolia, which would be very bad:


So all in all, I'd rather go to Denver out of those two. Raining frogs is much worse than whatever joy guitar players could give.
