I should first say that I despise that St. Louis has the nickname "The Lou." Okay, out of metropolitan areas, St. Louis has to been one of the least welcoming. The downtown area died long enough ago to be a joke on National Lampoon's Vacation (the first one), and I've heard rumors that it's trying to change, but it's hard to turn around 20 years of crap. However, to willingly refer to the town as a slang for the shitter is too much. Well, actually, I kind of feel like that it's okay for me to make fun of it, but nobody else can you know. Like it's okay if I call St. Louis a shitter of a town because I love the place, and it's shitterdom, so I mean it affectionately. But others, less informed, less appreciative people refer to it in shitter terms, I feel a twinge of resentment. Kind of weird thing.
And because of that love, any time I see someone wearing StL gear, I get this little swelling of pride, like I'm somehow part of the StL club. It's strange. So, when I stumbled across the picture that follows, I was inexplicably moved to post it here even though I had nothing of consequence to say about it. Why am I talking about this? No reason. Just avoiding the "first day of teaching" post that was inevitable. So I'll say it now. I taught today. It went okay. I go back Wednesday for more. Not a whole lot to say about it really. I didn't set anyone on fire, literally or metaphorically. Just did my job, and I punch back in on Wednesday.

Lolololol omg I grew up outside st. Louis, IL side. Lived downtown for a bit ended up outside Seattle after graduation and finally took the plunge to feel out stl as an adult.
I was in Millstadt for 4 years about 5 miles from east st. I made it 4 years before winter became a nope. Anyway .. Point, I'm sitting here watching 'biggie:the life of notorious b.i.g'and I see this picture of Pac in the stl hat...like HHHHUUUUUUHHH? ?! I have like 9 stl hats what's this guy doing that's gotta go on my fb.. Then I find this post... I'm dying. It's so so so true. Stl is a love hate. But don't you dare talk bad about her... You can't I can. But if I see you anywhere in the world wearing that stl, you could have just murdered someone or anything and I'd be like =) oh hi! how's it going. haha my gf from hs in Washington state came out to visit me, she bought some shirts nothing cardinals or blues or rams rip I warned her people will stop her and ask about it. She laughed it off.. Sure enough couple of weeks later back in Seattle, she said "OK... What is up with this stl stuff? Everyone keeps asking me if I'm from there". Anyway this made my day thank you. =)
