Norman Mailer Is Dead

Norman Mailer, two time Pulitzer Prize winner, died today at 84 of renal failure.

Another giant of American letters has passed. The icons of American literature are a fading group. Here's to hoping John Updike and Philip Roth are in great health.

Michiko Kakutani is one of the people on that enemies list, and he has had some unkind things to say about her. Hell, he's had unkind things to say about a lot of people for a long damn time...he is the human version of the word pugnacious for sure. Anyway, Ms. Kakutani wrote a piece for the NY Times on the occasion of Mailer's death. It's not grandstanding or taking his spirit out to task either. Read it on the other end of this link.
